Retailing

Nintendo's products, categorized under the "Shopping" category of products, focuses its sales in department stores (Target), specialty stores (Best Buy, GameStop), discount stores (Wal-Mart) and online retailing (Nintendo's online store). Nintendo has only one store around the world an that is why is called Nintendo World Store, located in New York City. The main idea of the store rather to offer the video-game experience than selling products to its visitors. Anybody can go to the stores, play in any of the Nintendo consoles with their friends and family for free. As the General Manager of the nintendo World Store, Paul Gonzalez said "is a game paradise where anybody can experience together the old a the new products."
Because of the absence of Nintendo stores around the world, it is very important for the company to have an intense strategy to promote their products in the different types of retail stores where their products are sold. That is why is probably familiar for many of us to see little kids, teenagers and adults playing video games in a console placed by Nintendo at the video game section of department stores.
In specialty stores, such as GameStop and Best Buy, Nintendo offers in addition the "Nintendo DS Download Station." In these stations, consumers may wirelessly download for free demos for featured games before buying them.
